Google's New In-App Payments Product Set For Launch In May 2011

Google was originally set to debut in-app payments support for Android in the fourth quarter of 2010, and recently said that the launch would be delayed until the end of this quarter. Be that as it may, the company is set to launch another much-anticipated (at least by many app developers or publishers) Web-based in-app transactions product in May 2011. (see updates below)

Google's Jambool Acquisition Confirmed

Earlier this week we broke the news that Jambool and their Social Gold monetization platform had been acquired by Google. Jambool founders Vikas Gupta and Reza Hussien have just confirmed the deal on their company blog. While the blog post did not reveal a purchase price, our sources have it pegged at $55 million plus another $15 million -$20 million in an earnout.

Google continues to gobble up companies that will form the backbone of its new social strategy and the upcoming war with Facebook. Last week it was Slide. Jambool Raises $5 Million For Its Social Gold Micropayments Platform

Jambool, the startup behind the Social Gold micropayments platform, has closed a $5 million funding round led by Madrona Venture Group, with Bay Partners participating as well. The company has now raised around $6 million, after a $1 million round in Q3 2008.
