    iRiver T50: 1GB of Cookie-Cutting

iRiver keeps fighting the useless fight against the iPod, this time trying to convince us that its 1GB T50 is as cool as the shuffle. How you could think otherwise is beyond me, what with its little knob navigation thing and tiny 1.01-inch screen. Like everything else iRiver, it does support nerd-friendly audio formats like OGG (and MP3 and WMA, natch). Other useful gems include FM radio support and voice recording via its built-in microphone. A single AAA battery powers the T50—available in both black and white, mind you—for about 52 straight hours. Not bad, but non-Apple DAPs these days seem about as sensible as investing in the ice telegraph wires. That, and it just looks dumb. Product Page [iRiver via Akihabara News] → Read More

iRiver Clix 2 Reviewed, So Great They Made the Review Into a Big JPEG

The iRiver Clix 2 is a 2.2″ media player with a Flash UI and standard audio and video playback. It’s fairly cool and has a high-resolution screen and a bit less power consumption thanks to a new AMOLED screen and 2- or 4-gigabyte models available in the US along with an 8GB landing in April. What angers me, however, is the writer’s decision to make the entire review one big JPEG. Clearly someone just downloaded Photoshop and/or is afraid H{~}X0RZ will steal his C()NT3NTZ. iRiver Clix Goes 4GB

Not much in the way of actual info, but it seems that the iRiver Clix, the small-screened MP3 and video player from iRiver, is about to hit the 4GB mark. We’ve got three professional ad shots, but no official announcement yet, which makes us think that the leak was from the ad company hired to do these shots. In any case, it looks like in addition to having 4GB of memory, the Clix will have FM radio, 2.2-inch display, album art while the song’s playing, and 30 hours of battery life. And it will still be tiny enough to fit in various body cavities. Minhembio [ via dapreview] → Read More

iRiver S10 Is Actually Pretty Neat

The day after Apple’s big announcement, that showcased several new products, including a new iPod shuffle, comes an announcement from iRiver of their new S10 model MP3 player. It’s about the same size as the Shuffle, but it actually has an LCD screen to display information. It has a capacity of 2GB, the ability to display bitmaps and the capability to play ASF, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, and WMA. With such a solid feature set, it seems to best the Shuffle pretty readily. No price yet, though. iriver S10: The coolest and the tiniest [Cnet Asia] → Read More
