The patent tussle between HTC and Apple looks like its shaping up to be a doozy, as HTC has released a formal response to the matter. Meanwhile, Apple’s legal team is facing the very recent loss of its chief patent counsel, as an HP attorney takes his spot. Just yesterday, Apple’s second ITC complaint against Apple surfaced on the ITC website, stirring a pot of what ‘til then had been a rather quiet legal battle. The complaints were with regards to “portable electronic devices and related software.” → Read More
It’s been a good year or so since Apple and HTC were originally duking it out in the court room over Android patent infringements. The case has gone rather quiet since its original filing, until today when the ITC posted a new complaint filed by Apple against HTC. This time, the Cupertino-based company hopes to block imports of “personal electronic devices” made by HTC. → Read More

Short version: A promising aberration. The Flyer is barely a viable product, but it hints at potential that is almost surely being unlocked in the labs of HTC right now. → Read More
HTC recently announced plans to release a software development kit for its Sense UI, which just so happens to be downright gorgeous in version 3.0. The SDK will allow developers to integrate their applications more deeply within the Sense software, according to HTC. And for developers who want to build 3D apps, the company also has plans to offer APIs and sample code for Sense handsets with 3D displays. → Read More
Wuh oh — looks like someone at Verizon pushed back an ad campaign and forgot to tell… everyone else. → Read More
HTC is looking for an experienced professional to lead the company into the automotive technology game. Apple established itself long ago in the automotive audio field with smart iPod/iPhone integration and this job posting seems to say the smartphone company is looking to follow suit, which will hopefully lead to smoother roads for Android and Windows Mobile users. → Read More
Good news for the dozen people waiting for the Sprint-branded HTC Flyer. Your tablet of choice is reportedly hitting with Honeycomb pre-loaded. See? That’s good news. I wasn’t lying. → Read More
The HTC Flyer, or the Sprint Evo View 4G here in the states, is the firm’s first tablet and as the offiical demo video embedded here shows, it does things a bit differently than other Android tablets. The Flyer is a curated experience thanks to the tablet-ifed version of HTC Sense. Just watch the video and count the amont of 3rd party apps demonstrated in the 6 minute video. (there’s just one: Onlive) Underneath the seemingly endless supply of first-party apps is Android 2.4 rather than the new hotness that is Honeycomb. We called it a potential fatal misstep when HTC unveiled the Flyer last month, but this video shows that the Flyer has enough going for it. → Read More
While I’m not too big of a fan of this whole glasses-free 3D trend, I am a fan of big ol’ megafast superphones — and, silly 3D screen aside, that’s exactly what the just announced EVO 3D is. Take a glance at our quick hands-off demo video above, and join us behind the jump for our hands-on impressions and photos. → Read More
Man! Here I am sitting in the airport on the way to CTIA, and the news is already breakin’. Lookin’ to get in before any noise that the show might generate and possibly ride the tide of their absolutely monstrous merger with T-Mobile, AT&T has just announced that they’re picking up two new toys: the Windows Phone 7 powered HD7S, and the Android-powered, glasses-free 3D-enabled LG Thrill 4G. Hop behind the ol’ jump for all the deets*. → Read More
Well well well, lookie here. In just 5 days, Sprint’s first Windows Phone 7 handset, the HTC Arrive, will… erm, arrive. Thanks to a surprise visit from Mr. FedEx this morning, though, we’ve got one a bit early. I’ll be taking it through the paces over the next few days, and should have a few review up in time for the launch — but in the mean time, be sure to check out our unboxing and hands-on gallery below. (Oh, and for those wanting to hear our impressions so far, I’ve only got one: Oh my God, this keyboard seems nice.) → Read More

Finally. The HTC Thunderbolt hit the scene back at CES but HTC and Verizon has been uncharacteristically mum about it sense. No more. The $249 Thunderbolt superphone is set to debut on big red this coming Thursday, March 17th. This will be the network’s first 4G LTE device, but if that doesn’t win over buyers, the rest will: a 32GB microSDHC card, the gorgeous 4.3-inch WVGA screen, a8-device hotspot and the solid feel that comes along with nearly every HTC phone. Too bad the VZW premium pricing sort of chills the lightning-hot phone as the 4G package runs $30 a month and the hotspot function an additional $20 spot. So yeah, that’s $50 a month Verizon will get from buyers that wanna take full advantage of the next-gen phone. Ouch. Click through for our hands-on video demo. → Read More
