I will admit that I’m over the iPhone and all the clones that it’s unleashed upon the world. But Samsung has pulled me back in with the Ultra Slim F700. It may not be the skinniest sister in the bunch but it sure does pack a whole lot more than the rest of the family. This is truly a revolutionary mobile phone and I’d give my arm to see it at 3GSM next week. → Read More
We like PDAs, and we like laptops, but the combo of the two, the UMPC, sucks. The idea is sound, but the execution tends to be lackluster. However, we’re changing our tune after seeing the UREN A1 by Innowell. Taking the UMPC form factor, with its 7-inch touchscreen running Windows XP, Innowell adds two things that have kept us from finding these portables sexy: real wireless connectivity… → Read More

Too bad the device is “postponed indefinitely” according to HTC. → Read More

A representative for Qualcomm stated recently that Cingular would be launching 7.2Mbps HSDPA in January. This purported bandwidth leap is nearly double the speed of current HSDPA, which tops out at 3.6Mbps, and about half the speed of HSDPA’s theoretical tops of 14.4Mbps. As the proud owner of a Samsung Blackjack, an HSDPA equipped device, I’m rather elated to the HSDPA bandwidth… → Read More
, perhaps). That means that with the new M400, you can (theoretically) get T1-equivelent speeds on a mobile network without having to tether your handset or use an add-on card. Sure, you’ll need a SIM from your provider, but, provided you’re in a 3G metro area, you’re all set. Actual speeds in most areas now top out at between 700-750Kbps, but for most of us, that’s fast… → Read More
If you read my 10 Things I Hate About Smartphones post last week, you’d discover that I hate Windows Mobile and that, even though they run Windows Mobile, I love HTC. So with that piece of cognitive dissonance in mind, I present my review of the Cingular 8525 aka the Hermes, a Windows Mobile Pocket PC smartphone with fold out QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen. It costs $399 with contract. → Read More
