HTC is said to be dropping a planned big-screen Windows Phone 8 smartphone, which was intended to go toe-to-toe with some of the latest Android devices with large displays, including HTC’s own Droid DNA. The reason HTC scrapped the plan is reportedly a lack of high resolution screen support in Windows Phone 8, according to Bloomberg, since Microsoft’s mobile OS only offers up to 720p resolution… → Read More

Orchestral movements by LCD light

Viral videos are, well, everywhere these days. You hire a media company, they come up with a clever idea, upload it, and hope that it gets tagged on YouTube. Which is exactly what Vodaphone NZ did. → Read More

And I agree. Over 12% of all the 3,000 geeks asked gave their vote to the 3.8-inch handset with the gorgeous 1024 x 480 touch screen. → Read More

With the first Android-powered handset launch just around the corner, Google’s finally getting around to showing the OS up and running on a live handset — albeit with a bit of tape covering up some unmentionables on the hardware itself. They showed the goods today at Google’s Developer Day today in London, and some chap in the audience managed to get it all on video. Check out… → Read More

Japanese Kuma teddy bear phone comforts sick kids

(video from DigInfo, Tokyo) Japan’s No. 4 cell phone carrier Willcom recently presented a very special kind of handset at the Good Design Expo 2008 in Tokyo (that ended last week). The company actually put one of their cell phones into a stuffed bear (handmade), which functions as a simplified handset: Each of the teddy’s legs and arms serves as a speed dial. It’s enough to… → Read More

SkyTone USB Phone

aka the RST102 is made by Radian Technologies and connects via USB to any laptop. Drop in a CD, turn on Skype, and away you go. In the mini review by Marc “The Sharc” Orchant we link below, it’s notable that a Skype handset “feels funny.” Think about it: we either use Skype with a headset or a webcam with microphone and speakers. We rarely hold something up to our… → Read More
