Microsoft just announced the line-up for 2011/2012 and it’s pretty exciting. The best stuff? Two Halo games and two AAA games including the long-awaited Kinect Star Wars and the real cloud-pleaser, Halo 4.
I will update this post as games are shown/announced. → Read More
A couple of the team are in line at the Galen Center, waiting for admission to Microsoft’s big E3 press conference, but as with last year, the secrets were too big to hold for some. Or, more likely, someone got their east coast/west coast timing messed up (I’m as guilty of this as anyone) and pubbed some updates at 9:30AM Eastern time instead of Pacific. What beans were spilled? Oh, nothing. Just two Halo games and two AAA titles for Kinect. → Read More
It looks like there will be a Halo: Combat Evolved re-make after all. So says mighty Joystiq. It’ll be available on November 15, 2011, 10 years to the day after the game’s original release for the Xbox. Oh, happy day! → Read More
Now here’s a juicy rumor. Is someone remaking Halo: Combat Evolved? That would be simultaneously neat and depressing. Neat in that, yeah, I’d like to see what Halo: Combat Evolved looks like at modern resolutions and with textures larger than thimbles. Depressing in that, jeez, it’s come to this? The Hollywoodization of the video game business continues. Of course, Microsoft gave the old standby “We have nothing to announce at this time.” Certainly doesn’t like a denial to me… → Read More
Comic-con starts today (I’ll be there tomorrow~!), so that means we’ll be seeing a bunch of comic book-related movie news coming at us in the next few hours. There’s already a few tasty bits of information out there. Like, will Killer Croc be the primary antagonist in the upcoming Batman movie? (The movie is set to be filmed in and around New Orleans.) Incidentally, Cros was probably my favorite villain in the old Batman cartoon. → Read More
http://cdn2.themis-media.com/media/global/movies/player/flowplayer.commercial-3.1.5.swf Yahtzee was surprisingly kind to Halo: Reach, he actually had some kind words to say about the final title in the franchise. I’ve been playing through it a bit myself, and I have to agree; the story is relatively compelling, even though the plot sometimes has a tendency to wander off into non-comprehension land. It boils down to if you liked Halo 3, you’ll probably like Halo: Reach → Read More
How is your Halo: Reach-ing? Racked up a bunch of frags in multi-player yet? I’ve slacked off, and now most of my free gaming time goes toward Fallout and F1 2010. There’s a neat bit of news that may be of interest to some of you. You know how when Halo 3 launched, back in 2007, there was a special edition of Mountain Dew? Well now Pepsi (Mountain Dew’s parent company) and Microsoft have teamed up~! again. → Read More
Looking for a Covenant Energy sword to hang on the wall of your man cave? Well, better hurry. The formerly $99 stainless steel stabby thing has been reduced to $44, and as a result there’s only three left in their inventory at Amazon.com. It even includes a wooden wall plaque to hang it from. Microsoft’s Phil Spencer revealed that Halo: Reach made over $200 million in Day 1 sales. This tops any other title so far this year, and also any other movie or “entertainment experience”. 1up reports that Halo: Reach also broke the total number of players on Xbox Live record previously held by Halo 3. → Read More
Is Halo: Reach the best Halo yet? Yeah, probably, but unlike when, say, Halo 2 came out, in 2004, it’s hardly the only good console shooter out there. You have choices now. Should you choose to Remember Reach? Let’s face it: you will and you will love every minute of it. Mostly. → Read More
Short version: The SteelSeries Spectrum 5XB is a headset for your Xbox 360 (and PC) that lets you separate your online teammates’ voices from the sounds explosions, gunfire, and other assorted bits of mayhem. So, if your team leader is barking orders you can turn down the game’s audio and listen exclusively to the commands. → Read More
If you’re a Halo fan and haven’t bought the new 360 yet, you’re in luck. This September 15, Halo: Reach will be launching alongside a sweet new Xbox with Halo detailing. It comes with two Halo-style controllers and costs $400 — a $100 premium over the vanilla 360 S and $200 over the stripped-down Arcade model. They say it’s a limited edition, but “limited” in this case probably means limited to like a million. The console will actually make a cameo in the game, which seems a little weird to me. But I’m probably never going to play Reach, so I’ll never know how it is. → Read More
I spent a few hours last night playing the Halo: Reach multi-player beta. (Microsoft sent out a few early invites to writing-guys like me, but the beta opens to Halo: ODST owners today.) It’s been a while since I’ve played a Halo game for any real amount of time. I dabbled with Halo 3‘s multi-player for a little while there, but that was two years ago. First impression of the Reach beta: absence makes the heart grow fonder. CrunchGear: your home for old man idioms. → Read More
In a rather strange move for a video game, Bungie will be showing off the Halo: Reach Beta today via Halo 3: ODST’s main menu. This video will star Beta’s actress, comedienne, and weapons expert, Aisha Tyler. Chances are the video will find its way onto YouTube by the end of the day just in case you don’t have ODST. The Halo: Reach Beta Guide is also now up for your perusal. The May 3rd beta launch is getting closer and closer. Oh man. It’s next week. → Read More
Well now this is mildly embarrassing. Six years ago, Bungieshowed off, and I guess I use that term loosely now, Halo 2 for the very first time. Let’s see… 2003, that would make me 17. Trivia! Anyhow, what Bungie showed was a complete hunk of nonsense. This is where you act surprised. → Read More
Whew, I was worried there for a minute. Microsoft has confirmed that the Halo movie is still in development, putting at ease dozens of people around the world. → Read More
Add the disc launcher and suddenly Halo: Reach is a Tribes remake. Just saying. → Read More
