Gears of War 3 Delayed Till Holidays 2011

That’s the sound of many, many Xbox 360 gamers shouting unintelligible nonsense upon hearing the news that Gears of War 3 has been delayed from April, 2011 to the holiday season of 2011. Oh dear. → Read More

Gears of War PC mass breakage

If you’re one of the few people that hasn’t played and beaten the first Gears of War (I’m looking at you, self), you may have to wait a little longer if you get the hankering to do so on the PC. The game’s executable included a provision for online cheat detection, which relied on digital signatures that recently expired. EPIC has an ugly fix (reminiscent of the Zune apocalypse “fix”), but hey, at least it’s not a DRM thing. → Read More

And now Epic Games denies that Gears of War 3 is in development

Well! So Epic Games has denied, in the harshest terms, that it has already started working on Gears of War 3. “Total nonsense,” said Epic’s Mark Rein. Fair enough, sir. Fair enough. The rumor, which said that the game would be out by Christmas 2010 and have five-player co-op, originally started in the latest issue of EGM, no doubt a stunt to keep the magazine’s name on people’s tongues. “Man, did you read that EGM broke the Gears of War 3 story? That’s a magazine I have to read from now on!” Would you welcome a sequel to Gears of War 2, or do you think the series has plateaued? I mean, there’s but so many ways to innovate the same basic run-n-gun concept, right? → Read More

Um rumor: Hará Gears of War 3 em 2010

Boas noticias, todo o mundo! Hará outro Gears of War para natal 2010. O nome? → Read More

Grains of War will curb stomp your appetite

http://www.g4tv.com/lv3/35316 Perhaps I’m a cynic, but I really expected this Gears of War parody spot, made by the folks on G4′s X-Play, to suck something fierce. Then Cole Train dumped cereal all over his face, and my worries drifted away. → Read More

Gears fans rejoice: someone has mated a real rifle to a real chainsaw

No nerf Lancer here. No concept gun, no foam rubber. Just an AR-15 with a chainsaw bayonet. I’m not sure what else to put here; more words would only subtract from the sublime beauty of this “firearm mounted anti-zombie device.” Although: I’ve just bought a copy of World War Z and I’m thinking they could have used a few of these things in the first stand at Yonkers. Spoiler Alert: Leaked GoW2 boss battle makes me a little scared, excited

In what seems to be a Polish version of GoW2 which, as we know, leaked like a sieve all over the Internets last week, we find Marcus facing the final boss battle on charming craft in what looks like the heart of Old World Venice. Don’t watch this if you’re like my buddy Rick who can’t stand to have his gaming experience spoiled but it does make us all excited to go out and purchase double layer DVDs the real, final copy of GoW2 when it comes out on November 7. via Kotaku → Read More

Outrage: CliffyB doesn't like the Xbox 360 controller

CliffyB, Gears of War creator and the coolest guy on Earth this side of John Biggs, doesn’t like the Xbox 360 controller much. In an interview, he compares it to a “spaceship,” what with all those buttons and everything. Simultaneously, he lauds the Wii’s controller, specifically its use in Super Mario Galaxy. Not ever single finger has to be doing something, says Mr. B. I don’t know how much sway his words have in your heart of hearts, but there they are. Doesn’t phase me in the least, as I’m used to having all my fingers pressing 19 different buttons simultaneously. via Computer and Video Games → Read More

Len Wiseman confirmed as director for Gears of War movie adaptation

If you’ve seen “Godzilla”, “Independence Day” or the latest addition to the “Die Hard” franchise then you’re familiar with what Wiseman is capable of and now he’s been confirmed as New Line’s man to helm the adaption of GoW. Chris Morgan is taking over the duties as head writer. Cliffy B. will act as executive producer to ensure they don’t screw it up. It was originally slated for a summer 2009 release, but that likely won’t happen. “It’s like with our games, you can have it right or have it right now,” said Epic Games topper Mark Rein. “We want to get it right. There’s no timetable for us. We just want to make as good a movie as we can, and we think (Wiseman’s) the guy who will do it.” Wiseman is also producing the third “Underworld” flick, which is why I included the above image because he’s a lucky enough to see Kate Beckinsale in skin tight pleather. → Read More

CrunchArcade: Gears of War re-released on June 24

What was alluded to last week has now been confirmed: Gears of War will be re-released for the Xbox 360 and PC as a two-disc set. The re-release includes maps from all those map packs and little extras from Gears of War 2. June 24, $40 for the Xbox 360 version, $30 for the PC. CrunchArcade: Gears of War special edition comes with picture packs, trailers

New, exciting info on the upcoming special edition of Gears of War for the Xbox 360. The special content is split into two halves, GoW junk and GoW 2 junk. (I use the word “junk” with only the upmost of sincerity.) As far as the GoW</i< stuff goes, gamers can expect picture packs (!), themes (!!), a special message from CliffyB (!!!), and two multiplayer map packs (~!). As for the GoW 2 hotness, there’s a picture pack and some trailers. Yeah, nothing to stand on a roof and shout about, but worth a quick mention. Hence, the above. → Read More

Video: In game advertising pisses off XBL players

I have no idea if the guy doing all the product pitching works for any of the companies mentioned in any of the videos, but he is freaking hilarious. I can’t stop laughing. The Gatorade video is probably the funniest one of all. I hope companies don’t plan on advertising like this in the future. Maybe the guy was smoking some herb or crack. → Read More

Gears of War movie done got a script and director

Gears of War is grinding towards completion. Keep in mind, though, this article does not mention whether the script and director are any good. Hopefully he or she won’t use actual gameplay as part of the film, a la House of the Dead. I’m still playing the PC version of GoW and it looks great, they could probably just have a pro speedrun it (it’d be under 2 hours) and put that on the big screen with a little editing. I’d watch it. But then, I also watch Excitebike speedruns. → Read More

Will Microsoft roll up Epic into its game developer katamari?

There are rumblings to this effect from an assistant editor at GamePro. Microsoft seems to have made a couple billion bucks from the Halo franchise after snapping up Bungie all those years ago, and with the success of Gears of War and the promise of a sequel, it seems like it would be an excellent move. This Travis Moses guy thinks that MS will make a move this summer to the tune of a billion dollars. Well, they’ll probably make that back on GoW 2 and all the games that will license the Unreal engine and its next iteration, but it’s probably worth it just to own the guys who made One Must Fall: 2097 and Epic Pinball (with the original Android). Could Microsoft Acquire Epic Games? GamePro Editor Thinks So [WRAL Local Tech Wire] → Read More
