Thanks again to all of you who came out to our Real Time Stream CrunchUp and August Capital Summer Party. We broke 600 attendees to the Real Time Stream CrunchUp, double our initial expectations, and we hosted lots more of you at the August Capital outing. We had an amazing group of CrunchUp speakers to talk about new trends, boundaries and your passions. And we fit in 22 new product highlights… → Read More

Microsoft Puts Weight Behind Open Source Projects With Web Platform Installer

Microsoft isn’t exactly known for championing open source projects. So it’s rather surprising (in a good way) to see the company release something called the Microsoft Web Platform Installer, which makes it possible to batch install a set of open source projects on Windows Vista or Server 2008. → Read More

More PAX pix for you

Just a couple more pics for you guys before we enter the belly of the beast again. These TF2 cosplayers were all over the place, but I didn’t see any Heavies. Well, there were some heavies all right, but to be precise I didn’t see anybody dressed as a heavy from TF2. → Read More

They also released an interesting Wi-Fi-enabled media player that can drag photos off of your memory cards and display them on your HD TV and then upload the images straight to a PC or Kodak Gallery. It will cost $299 and has a Wii-like remote that lets you browse photos and even listen to streaming audio over the Internet. It… → Read More

Gallery: Revenge on the gear you hate

Sometimes our technology just doesn’t do for us what we want it to. Whether it’s the software going haywire or the hardware malfunctioning, our gear can sometimes be frustrating. Most of us have had fantasies about throwing our laptop out of a window or shooting that smartphone with a gun, but leave it to Wired to put together a collection of people who’ve done just that. → Read More

Meet Palm's Foleo

Palm’s taking the wraps off its Foleo, and we’ve got some pics. The “smartphone companion” is actually fairly dope, featuring not just Bluetooth but also WiFi. It’s not meant to fully replace a laptop, but if you’re like me, you find lugging your Powerbook around all the time to be burdensome. If I’m just going to be checking email and browsing porn, I… → Read More

Nokia N800 (nee N870) Unearthed

The Nokia N770 is probably one of the most unsung devices out there. I love mine — it’s a tiny, handy Internet tablet with brains. The N800, it seems, is 10 times better. The fellow at RingNokia got his hands on one and shares some of his unboxing pictures. Strangely enough, it’s missing the expected “870″ designation. I tried to create another gallery and it’s… → Read More
