Galaxy S Blaze 4G Lights Up T-Mobile Shelves On March 28

Blaze

Word of the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G first broke around the time Team TechCrunch was roaming the cavernous halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center at CES, but at the time T-Mobile wasn’t feeling very talkative about release dates.

The mangenta-hued carrier seems to have opened up a bit during the intervening months though, as they’ve taken to Twitter earlier today to announce that their latest Samsung handset will hit their sales channels on March 28. If you’re really lucky (or willing to hop in a car and take some chances), you could snag a Blaze 4G even earlier than that, as some stores will be selling the device a week early.

No Ice Cream Sandwich For Galaxy S And Galaxy Tab, Says Samsung

Image (1) GalaxyS-4variants.jpg for post 193258

Sorry Galaxy S owners — even though your device has a near-identical spec sheet to the ICS-friendly Nexus S, Samsung has announced on their corporate blog that the company’s first Galaxy device won’t be getting the offical bump to Android 4.0.

The original Galaxy S isn’t the only one to get the snub, as the 7-inch Galaxy Tab won’t be able to join in the fun either.

It looks like TouchWiz deserves most of the blame here — according to Samsung Tomorrow, neither device has enough RAM or ROM to accomodate TouchWiz and all of its Samsung-designed accoutrements without affecting the quality of use. → Read More

Over iPhone And iPad Patents: Apple Sues Samsung In Japan

Image (1) ipad_japan1.jpg for post 161767

The patent war between Apple and Samsung is continuing, and this time the battlefield is Japan: Japanese news agency Kyodo is reporting that Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung with the Tokyo District Court. According to big A, Samsung is infringing on (unspecified) patents on the iPhone and iPad with the Galaxy S Android phone (that carrier Docomo started selling in Japan last year).

If the report is to be believed (neither Apple Japan nor Samsung Japan have confirmed the news), Apple is seeking 100 million yen (US$1.3 million) in damages. A first hearing took place yesterday, and apparently, Samsung’s Japanese unit is ready for a long-term legal battle. → Read More

T-mobile's Galaxy S 4G page up 'n' running

Last week we told you that T-mobile had announced their 4G variant of the near-ubiquitous Galaxy S. Well, for anyone that’s itching for this high-speed variant, I’m happy to tell you that today, T-mobile’s info page for the handset has gone live. There isn’t any new info given, but there is an option to sign up for notifications about the device. For those that can’t remember, the Galaxy S 4G will run Froyo (Android 2.2), and sport the same 4″ 800×480 Super-AMOLED display that we all know and love, but will be compatible with T-mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network, supporting download speeds of up to 21mbps. If you’re keen to sign up for more info, you can see the page for yourself here. [via Cell Phone Signal] → Read More

T-mobile Samsung Vibrant Froyo update begins today, T-mobile commits to 3-5 month Android update turn-around

There’s nothing quite like an Android update to make your day just that much better, so you T-mobile Vibrant (aka Samsung Galaxy S) owners out there are set for a great weekend, as today — January 21 — marks the day that Froyo begins to make its way onto Vibrant handsets. → Read More

New Samsung Galaxy Phone To Be Called The Galaxy Cooper In India

Phone names, like band names, are getting weirder and weirder. To wit: the Galaxy Ace, an already goofy name, will be called the Galaxy Cooper in India, suggesting a PR campaign featuring some sort of intergalactic softshoe number. Some specs after the jump. → Read More

Samsung Galaxy S hits 2 million units sold in Korea, soon to reach 10 million worldwide

Like we needed any more evidence that the Galaxy S is slowly taking over the world, but Samsung recently announced that they have sold 2 million Galaxy S units since its June launch in their home country of Korea.

They also announced that, at 9.3 million worldwide sales since launch, Samsung are on track to reach 10 million sales by the year’s end — giving the Galaxy S the (somewhat dubious, given the number of variants out there) title of first Android handset to hit the 8 figures mark. → Read More

Samsung Epic 4G Gets Naked For FCC

With the Samsung Epic 4G launching very soon, here’s an interesting alternative view of the device. If you dig around enough on the FCC website, you’ll be able to find nude pictures of almost every phone. Sometimes they are barely legal shots, like this Samsung Epic 4G. → Read More

Samsung Galaxy Hits 1 Million Sales

Good news for Samsung; their new Galaxy phone has hit 1 million sold after just 45 days of being on the market. That’s a pretty impressive number for a phone that doesn’t come from Apple. Electronista reports that Samsung considers the phone to an instant success, and expects the Galaxy to continue to sell quickly. The 1 million number was a combined total between AT&T and T-Mobile, but doesn’t include any sales from Sprint, as their version won’t hit the market on the 31st. → Read More

Hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate for AT&T

I can’t say much about the Galaxy S Captivate that hasn’t been said, other than to inform you that this ultra-slim Android phone is amazingly small, light, and very exciting. Styled like the EVO 4G but running on AT&T, the phone features 16GB internal storage and a 1GHz processor. The model I saw was production-ready and ran Android 2.2. → Read More

4G Samsung Galaxy S Pro specs surface, HTC cries a little

The title of “hottest Android handset right now” has been passed around a fair bit of late, from the Nexus One, to the Desire, to the Incredible, to the Evo, to the Galaxy S, and beyond. The last 6-12 months has been like a game of digital hot potato.

Next in line for this starchy title? The Galaxy S Pro. → Read More

AT&T announces the Samsung Captivate, their version of the Galaxy S Android superphone

Remember a few months back, we used our super-Internet-sleuthing abilities to break the news that AT&T would eventually be getting a Android handset that was oh-so-similar to the just announced Samsung Galaxy S? Say hello to the phone in question, now known as the Samsung Captivate. → Read More

Video: Samsung Galaxy S torn to pieces in front of your very eyes

Looks like the new (and super-hot) Samsung Galaxy S has had its moment of vivisection, and we have the videos to prove it.

For those of you that enjoy these things (either sadists or DIYers), you’ll be pleased to know that this one goes both ways: disassembly, then reassembly. → Read More

Samsung Galaxy S launched in Europe, rest of the world comes later

So maybe Samsung thought it was a bit ambitious to launch in 110 countries simultaneously, or maybe they never intended to. Either way, Samsung today announced that their flagship Android device, the Galaxy S, will be available in Europe very soon, while the US will get it “later this year”. → Read More

Rumor: Samsung to launch the Android-powered Galaxy S superphone in 110 countries simultaneously

In the grand world of electronics, it’s pretty much customary to launch in one country, wait a few days, launch in another, and so on. At most, companies launch their new toys in two or three countries at a time – it’s just really the only sane way to do it, you know? Remind me not to ever call Samsung sane. → Read More

Leaked Pics: Samsung's Android-powered i897 confirmed for AT&T, looks pretty great

Waaay back in April, a handset with strikingly similar specs to the beastly Samsung Galaxy S showed up in the Bluetooth certification database. The big difference here, though, was the model number: SGH-i897. Through good ol’ fashion science (and by that, I mean looking at the model number), we deduced that this guy was headed for AT&T — and we were right. → Read More

Galaxy S available in Asia come June, Froyo comes later

Do you like your screens crisp, but your phones a little less wavey? Do you like teh Gigahertzes, but are fearful of dragons?

Well, I’m happy that you’re so sure of yourself, but I’m even happier that the Galaxy S ticks all of your boxes AND will be released sometime in June!

But calm down a sec, mmmkay? There is something more I need to tell you. First of all, the June release is for Asia only at this point. → Read More

Samsung already working on a Galaxy S Pro, complete with physical keyboard?

Sometime yesterday afternoon, some new information started floating around the Kingdom of Ol’ Rumorton. “The Samsung Galaxy S… another version is coming,” whispered the trees of Rumorton, “and it’s called the Galaxy S Pro! And it has a physical keyboard!” The rumors were in a bit too shaky of a state yesterday for us to cover them; we didn’t know much about the site that claimed it, they admitted that it was hearsay, and (outside of the fan-made render above) there weren’t any pictures. Plus, who the hell listens to trees? We decided to skip it. Well, the rumor just got a whole lot more credible. → Read More
