The Pentax Forums have been buzzing since the first images of the purported next gen Pentax DSLR surfaced last week. It was widely speculated to be the K30D, but it appears that Pentax has confirmed it to be the K7D according to Austrian site fotografie.
What strikes me as odd is that I know Pentax is veering away from the “D” nomenclature, which is quite evident with the K2000/K-m. It’s quite perplexing and we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the third week of May when all is supposed to be revealed. → Read More
What you see on the left-hand side is a very clear shot of the unknown Pentax DSLR next to its current brethren. Other models aside, you can clearly see that the flash module, shutter release and what appears to be a mic hole on top of the flash. Andrew Disney’s “Searching for Sonny” hopes to be the first feature film shot entirely with a Canon 5d Mark II. If the teaser trailer is any indication of things to come then Disney might have an indie film worth watching. According to his Vimeo page, cameraman Jeffrey Waldron mostly used a Nikon 50mm lens for the teaser with a Canon body. I guess sales of the white K2000 did well enough that Pentax Japan announced a new limited edition olive Km (It’s K2000 in the US and Km everywhere else). It will be a limited run of 1000 units and ships in late October. No word on price.

Now we’re talking, folks. Panasonic just announced an updated version of their Micro Four Thirds camera, the G1, that records HD video. Videos are recorded using the AVCHD codec and 1080p video is shot at 24fps while 720p is shot at 60fps. There’s a dedicated video record button on the back of the GH1. → Read More

According to the rumor, the D5000 will take over the role as Nikon’s entry level DSLR. Details aren’t exactly plentiful, but it sounds like it would be on par with the D90′s image quality, lack a AF motor like the D40/D60 and have more than three AF points. Sounds possible, right?
