Sure, the 12-megapixel shooter comes with a 14-140mm lens and its diminutive size definitely garners a lot of attention for what it can do, but the going price is a bit steep considering the state of economy. RiceHigh, bless his or her heart, claims to have the scoop on everything, but specs for the upcoming K-7 DSLR. As I mentioned the other RiceHigh, bless his or her heart, claims to have the scoop on everything, but specs for the upcoming K-7 DSLR. As I mentioned the other week, the nomenclature for all Pentax SLRs going forward will be dropping the “D” and simply going with K-x. → Read More
The Pentax Forums have been buzzing since the first images of the purported next gen Pentax DSLR surfaced last week. It was widely speculated to be the K30D, but it appears that Pentax has confirmed it to be the K7D according to Austrian site fotografie.
What strikes me as odd is that I know Pentax is veering away from the “D” nomenclature, which is quite evident with the K2000/K-m. It’s quite perplexing and we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the third week of May when all is supposed to be revealed. → Read More
What you see on the left-hand side is a very clear shot of the unknown Pentax DSLR next to its current brethren. Other models aside, you can clearly see that the flash module, shutter release and what appears to be a mic hole on top of the flash. Other than that, I don’t notice anything different, but I’d like close up on that dial. Hmm… → Read More

The original Gigapan made national headlines by creating a ginormious photo of Obama’s inauguration. However, the device only supported point ‘n shoot cameras, which truely limited the picture quality. Not anymore, kiddies. The new Epic 100 comes with a larger mounting surface for DSLRs and big P&S cams along with other updates that should improve the quality. → Read More

Gather ye ’round for what could be the first almost-photo of the Nikon D400, first spotted on Nikon’s German Web site. This almost-photo—there’s no photo of the camera itself, but rather the telltale question mark of an imagine that didn’t properly load in a Web browser—does list the key specs, however. How does 15.3-megapixel CMOS sensor sound to you? Or an ISO range of 200 to 6400? Or maybe the Full HD video capture mode is more your style? → Read More

While I’ve never seen a Sony dSLR “out in the field,” so to speak, I’ve been assured that the company knows its way around a single-lens reflex mechanism. To that end, there’s a rumor currently zipping about the Internet that pertains to two of the company’s dSLRs, the A200 and A300. It seems Sony is planning to consolidate the two models into one, and would be first announced this April. So the rumor goes, at least. → Read More

According to the rumor, the D5000 will take over the role as Nikon’s entry level DSLR. Details aren’t exactly plentiful, but it sounds like it would be on par with the D90′s image quality, lack a AF motor like the D40/D60 and have more than three AF points. Sounds possible, right? It basically would be a stripped down D90 which would hopefully come to market around the $600 mark. More as we get it. → Read More
