No more shall users be required to install all the other fluff that printers… → Read More

Gotta wait till January for SteelSeries World of Warcraft mouse Mac drivers

Attention, Mac World of Warcraft players. You may want to consider holding off on buying that SteelSeries MMO mouse till January, since that’s when the company plans to the release Mac drivers, as I just learned. Without those drivers, those 15 buttons are useless. Well, like three of them work when using SteerMouse, a fancy third-party Mac mouse driver, but that’s not exactly ideal. I… → Read More

That SteelSeries Warcraft MMO mouse doesn't have Mac drivers yet (but they're coming soon)

Just a heads up to my fellow World of Warcraft players, especially those of you who use a Mac. You know that SteelSeries MMO Gaming Mouse that came out a few days ago? It doesn’t ship with Mac drivers, meaning that you’re not able to use all 15 buttons as intended. (That’s even when using fancy, multi-button mouse drivers like SteerMouse.) In other words, the mouse isn’t… → Read More

Tool to mod NVIDIA desktop drivers into laptop drivers

Handy if you have, well, almost any laptop these days. While I really don’t think the laptop gaming population is that great, there’s no reason they should have to play on drivers a couple generations back. This tool from Driver Heaven, the Mobility Modder, modifies the newest drivers (for instance, PhysX-enabling ones) to run on pretty much any card with a “Go” or… → Read More

    NVIDIA's PhysX-on-GPU demos go live

Those special PhysX-enabling drivers and demos we told you about a couple days ago are now live on NVIDIA’s site. If you have a GeForce card of any recent vintage (think 8-series and higher), go get set up now! I can’t from my MacBook Pro, but as soon as I get home I’m going to throw down on a little Warmonger; the new Red Faction whetted my appetite for destruction and this game… → Read More

Windows 7 driver testing now mandatory for hardware makers

Looks like Microsoft is serious about this Windows 7 thing. Starting Monday, hardware makers will have to make their drivers compatible with Windows 7 as well as Vista to get that coveted “Certified for Windows Vista” badge on their gear. Seems kind of unnecessary right now, since 7 won’t be out for another couple years, but I guess they don’t want a repeat of the XP/Vista… → Read More

Creative backs down on threats to driver writer

The Register is reporting that Creative has reinstated programmer Daniel_K’s Creative Vista driver on the official Creative sight and that, well, actually I’m not sure what they’re saying here: We have read the strong feedback about Creative’s forum post regarding driver development by daniel_k and other outside parties. Creative’s message tried to address our concern… → Read More

An attorney who’s sued the city of Chicago over 100 times is at it again. This time he wants the city to stop ticketing people for talking on their cell phones while driving and he wants anyone who’s been ticketed to be paid back. The case may have legs, too. → Read More

    An Open Letter To HP

Dear HP, I’ve been using your printers for years and years now. Since I started using Mac OS X more than 5 years ago, the process for installing a printer I thought would become drastically easier. Unfortunately, I was wrong. → Read More
