Talk about cutting it close. With less than 12 hours before T-Mobile officially pulls back the curtain on the ultra-hyped G1, the floodgates have opened. Images extracted from the depths of T-Mobile’s G1 site have begun hitting tip boxes, and now TmoNews has managed to get their hands on a bunch of specs and details.

What’s known so far:

• In-store, immediate sales only available in stores within 5 miles of a 3G covered area. If a store is beyond that range, representatives will walk customers through a T-mobile.com purchase
• One touch access to: Search, Maps, Gmail, Youtube, Calendar, and Google Talk
• Gmail account and data plan required
• GPS
• 3.1 mp camera, no video recording
• No stereo bluetooth (A2DP)

With the big announcement just days away, it’s no surprise that some folks out there might be totin’ the Android-powered HTC Dream (G1) around. Between all of the Google developers, HTC product engineers, and T-Mobile employees involved, in-the-wild shots were bound to get out sooner or later.

And now they have, on the blog of Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins. Rizzn got the shots through a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-spy, and passed’em on for the world to see. While there isn’t all that much new to see from these shots, it sure is nice to see it out and about – and more importantly, that it doesn’t seem all that tough to type on.

Strategy Analytics announced this morning that they are expecting Android sales to account for 400,000 of the 10.5 million US smartphone sales they foresee going down in Q4 of 2008.

“Google has the brand power in the USA to make a big impact at launch. The main issue will be operator subsidies,” said Chris Ambrosia, Executive Director of Strategy Analytics, “As seen with the iPhone and smart devices in general, retail prices need to be well below $200 to be competitive. Longer-term success will, of course, rest on Android vendor ability to create designs with wow factor and an intuitive user-interface.”

Not quite sure what they mean by “well below $200″, especially when citing the iPhone as an example. The most pocket friendly iPhone is just a buck short of the 200 dollar pricepoint, and the latest chatter has most people expecting the same pricetag for the only Android-powered handset expected in ’08, the HTC Dream (G1).

Regardless of trivial semantics, the numbers sound about right. After all of the hype and intense blog coverage, HTC might push 400,000 units to the curious and oh-so-excited geek crowd alone.

It’s barely even lunch time, and the HTC Dream rumor mill is already churnin’ away at full force.

Just minutes ago, an insider involved with the development of Android confirmed to us that the HTC Dream will set you back just $200 bucks after contract. While they weren’t able to provide a sans-contract price, they did say that T-Mobile’s subsidization wasn’t very large.

Now, they’ve still got just under a week to switch things up, but with the oft-compared iPhone sitting at $199 and most rumors pinpointing the Dream to come in between 150 and 250 smackers, a 200 dollar price point seems plenty reasonable. (Plus, a price tag of only two Franklins might just make up for the fact that it’s not exactly the prettiest handset ever launched.)

While just yesterday a source revealed to us that we’d be seeing it on October 20th, VentureBeat has heard it might show up a whole 3 days earlier, moving the date to Friday, October 17th.

Rumor! Grains of salt and whatnot. Forward-looking statements, etc. Thinking caps on, pencils down and what have you. Gearfuse apparently got a tip from an insider close to the HTC Dream saying that the device “will feature a keyboard and trackball almost identical to the Sidekick.” If this is true, fine by me. The Sidekick’s got a nice keyboard.

I’m not head-over-heels, take-it-to-the-prom in love with the trackball but it gets the job done. This video from a few weeks ago is supposedly the Dream in action and, yes, the fleeting glances of the keyboard and trackball make them look like they could be in the same league as the Sidekick’s.

When a new HTC product going by “DREA1000″ hits the FCC, there really isn’t much question what it may be. Of course, the product description goes on to outright call it “Dream”, but hey – it’s more fun to pretend that this took some hardcore sleuthing.

Now that this much talked about first-ever Android handset has made its way through the FCC’s labs, a few new details have snuck out: It’ll be packin’ Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and 802.11 b/g, run on the 850/1900 bands, topped off with WCDMA 1700 for the 3G needs (further cementing T-Mobile as its destination.)

Here’s an apparent video of the HTC Dream running Google’s Android operating system. The video looks to have been shot at incredibly high altitude, as even the most basic and delicate hand movements have left the guy working the camera completely out of breath.

This looks a little clunky for an HTC device so I don’t want to say that this is definitely definitely definitely the HTC Dream but whatever it is, the Sidekick-like sliding screen looks nice. For all we know, it could just be a tricked-out Sidekick so take what you see here with a grain of salt. Unless you’re the guy who shot the video – it sounds like you might benefit from cutting salt out of your diet altogether.

Previously codenamed “Dream,” the Android-based Google phone coming from HTC will be called — drumroll please — “Dream,” according to IDG News Service.

This information comes from “a person close to the situation,” so it’s possible that we’re not much further along than we were back in early November when we told you that HTC’s Google phone was codenamed — drumroll please — “Dream,” and that the specs looked awfully similar to the HTC Omni pictured above.

More details, according to IDG…

“HTC’s Google handset is just over 5-inches long and 3-inches wide, with a keypad underneath the screen that either slides out or swivels out. The aim of the keypad is for easy e-mail, note-taking, and writing Web addresses. Internet navigational controls are situated below the screen on the handset.

The handset will likely hit the market near the end of this year, the person said.”

HTC names Google phone, ‘Dream’ [IDG News Service/Infoworld]

Guess what? Logitech is now stepping up its line of iPod accessories with a whole new series of music systems called Pure-Fi. First up is the Pure-Fi Anywhere, which offers one touch shuffle and repeat, a remote, 2-inch Max-X drivers, and a 10-hour rechargeable battery. That sells for $150 and will be available this month along with the Logitech Pure-Fi Dream Bedroom Music System, or Logitech Pure-Fi Dream for short.

Now this system is designed for bedroom use and can be used as an alarm clock, AM/FM radio, one button playlist and station selection, motion-activated backlit controls, auto-adjusting LCD that dims at night and displays song info. You’re in for a rude-awakening with 3/4-inch dome tweeters and 3-inch long woofers, so make sure you take it easy on the boom boom boom.
