I wonder whether the creators of this particular digital picture frame know that Apple actually has something called iFrame. I mean, sure, it’s just a really dumb (and more or less defunct) resolution, but still, if you’re going to make an iPad lookalike, it’s good to mitigate risk by giving it some obscure name.

As for the frame itself, it’s just your usual thing: WiFi, USB, Flickr, basic weather and news. It’s 13″ and 1366×768, and costs $141. You can probably get one like this cheaper at your local electronics store, and you won’t have to pay for shipping — but it won’t have that handsome piano black bezel.

Digital picture frames are worthless. Seriously, trust me. However this Eee PC packs much more into the same form factor, which is a huge improvement over the standard Wal-Mart model. Just think: full Internet access, Wi-Fi, a good screen, the Eee PC is perfect for this type of mundane task.

There isn’t anything special about this hack as the Eee PC is basically stripped of the keyboard and plastic bezel and mounted on a basic wooden frame. Really anyone with basic technical skills should be able to replicate this near tablet conversion. Add a touchscreen and this would be a perfect mod; and close competitor of the upcoming CrunchPad.

Westinghouse is teaming up with renowned baby photographer, Anne Geddes, for a set of so-called family digital picture frames. From the sounds of it, these digital frames will come preloaded with some of her photos which is just what every parent want – pics of babies cuter than their own. No word on sizes, prices or availability, but they are sure to be in stores before the holiday spending spree.

Santa Fe Springs, CA – Westinghouse Digital Electronics, one of the leading LCD manufacturers in the U.S.*, announces a major partnership with Anne Geddes, one of the world’s most respected photographers, to create a new family of digital photo frames that will highlight babies and children. Under the partnership, the new line of digital photo frames will feature Anne Geddes’ content and images along with the award-winning Westinghouse technology that consumers have come to love and trust. The Westinghouse Anne Geddes digital photo frames are scheduled to launch for the 2008 Holiday season.

As part of Westinghouse’s overall commitment to provide high-end LCD display products that reflect consumers’ lifestyles, this exclusive new collection of digital photo frames enables users to mix their own photos and content with specifically selected photos and content of babies and children by Anne Geddes. Anne Geddes iconic and award-winning images are internationally acclaimed and beloved. Her books have sold more than 18 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 24 languages; she has two New York Timesbestsellers to her name. Her ever-popular Down in the Garden, a critically acclaimed runaway New York Times bestseller, remained on that list for more than three months, and her photographic retrospective Until Now was an international bestseller. Her well-received autobiography, A Labor of Love, was released last year. Additionally, Anne’s calendars have been bestsellers since they were introduced in 1992.

Like no photographer before, Anne’s imagery singularly captures the beauty, purity, vulnerability, and preciousness of children. Her images embody her deeply held belief that each and every child must be protected, nurtured, and loved.

Doug Woo, President of Westinghouse Digital, states, “Westinghouse Digital is honored to enter into this partnership with Anne Geddes. As a leader in the digital photo frame market, we are looking to provide a large demographic of product purchasers with a dedicated piece of artwork that reflects individual style. For mothers, grandmothers or anyone who loves children, this is an essential collector’s item — something that resonates and relates to their overall lifestyle interest.”

Kel Geddes, Director of the Geddes Group, comments, “We are very pleased to be associated with Westinghouse Digital. Its dedication to providing the highest quality content and to developing innovative delivery systems will enable individuals worldwide to enjoy and share Anne’s inspiring images in a new medium.”

The Westinghouse Digital partnership with Anne Geddes is part of the company’s larger goal that revolves around content creation. The digital photo frames that will offer Anne Geddes images will require specialized software, developed by Westinghouse, to power the units. This is the latest example of the company’s seamless movement and integration of content into display solutions. Westinghouse Digital’s recent commercial market content ventures include its partnership with Adtek Media for the PumpTop TV network and its recent introduction of neonNow™ and neonSource® digital signage products that allows owners of small and medium sized businesses the power to easily create professional-looking digital signs and ads like never before.

Either you hate ‘em or you love ‘em, but digital picture frames in all their unnaturally LCD bright glory are here to stay. Smartparts latest is this massive 32-inch model that is sure to draw attention – and power – as your family pics are fed through a WiFi connection – or the standard flash memory ports of SD, MS, and Compact Flash. The 1366×768, 16:9 frame can also sync up with Windows Live Photo Gallery meaning you don’t need to back to your ‘rents house to upload Bobby’s T-Ball pictures.

The SP3200WF price and availability is no where to be found, but I’m guessing that if you can live without the WiFi connection, you can probably pick up a really nice LCD TV for the price of this puppy.

Even if you didn’t mean to kill little Futzy, she’s dead. What do do now? Why burn her up and stuff her in this digital picture frame urn. It comes in oak and walnut and costs $289.95. It holds 256MB worth of pictures — your dog isn’t worth a gigabyte — and has a 7-inch screen. Just wait for that screen to heat up a little and things are really going to be nasty up at the old Walton place.

This thing can hold up to 75 pounds of ash so you can probably drop a couple of animals in there over the next few years, depending on how well you hide the rat poison.
