There’s a good chance that if you wanted to see the Caprica pilot, you already did. It’s been available on DVD and torrent sites for a while now. Maxim proves Cylons can be kinda sexy

Battlestar Galactica nerds, Maxim is counting on you to buy its latest mag. Photoshopped and chopped versions of Tricia Helfer and Grace Park are gracing the November cover. But thanks to the wonderful Internet, there’s no need to fork over hard-earned money just to check out the rest of the photo set. Maxim.com has a bunch primed for your viewing pleasure. But be warned, the pics might kill any fantasies you currently have about Number Six or Boomer.

The general consensus of the CrunchGear staff is that these pics are horrible. Whoever was the photographer or photoshopper should look for different work. He – and let’s assume it was a man – sucks at his current job. Maybe he should look into the Peace Corps or bartending.

The latest Stargate Universe trailer clearly shows someone watched BSG

Oh man, Stargate Universe launches on October 2nd. I can’t wait even though the latest trailer shows that the show has clearly taken a more edgy stance, which in my mind at least, isn’t what a Stargate show be. But that’s not new info. The creators have stated that SGU will be different for a while, but this trailer confirms it. The show is going to be darker, full of mystery, and shot to look like Battlestar Galactica. But the simple Star Wars reference at the end of the trailer shows some hope that the show might actually maintain some of its Stargate identity. Hopefully.

Pre-order Battlestar Galactica Blu-ray set on Amazon for $219

It’s going to take a serious BSG fan to spend $219 on the complete Blu-ray set, but something tells me there are a bunch of you out there. That gets you the complete series, all the extra features, the web episodes and Capica spread over 20 Blu-ray discs. But is Battlestar Galactica worth $219? Serious. I’m asking.

Battlestar Galactica somewhat confirmed coming to Blu-ray

Battlestar Galactica was meant for high-def. Thankfully, Universal has somewhat confirmed that the series will be available in its entirety on Blu-ray sometime soon via the Caprica DVD.

A little message pops up before the Caprica DVD’s main menu after the promo for the complete series box set which says it’s coming to “DVD and Blu-ray high-def.” There hasn’t been any official word from the studio before this little message, but it’s pretty clear. This means that the whole series might be available on Blu-ray the same day the DVD box set is slated for release, which is July 28, 2009. More as we get it.

While most folks will be drinking crappy green beer today pretending that they have some Irish heritage, some members of the cast of Battlestar Galactica will be heading to the United Nations in New York for a panel discussion of how the show examined issues such as “human rights, children and armed conflict, terrorism, human rights and reconciliation and dialogue among civilizations and faith,” according to ~~the SciFi channel~~ Syfy.

Tonight at 7 PM in the U.N.’s Economic and Social Council Chamber, executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, as well as stars Mary McDonnell (President Laura Roslin) and Edward James Olmos (Admiral William Adama) will join U.N. representatives for a panel moderated by Whoopi Goldberg. A full transcript of the discussion is expected to be made available in the near future.

CSI finally coming to Blu-ray

CSI helped defined HD in its early years and now it will finally be available on Blu-ray. The show, along with ER, was one of the first primetime programs to showcase why the 16:9 format at a higher definition was so damn spectacular. I don’t even think CSI: Miami would still be on the air if it wasn’t for the HD eye candy compensating for the horrendous acting. Anyway, the show’s first season should hit shelves on May 12 for a yet to be announced price. Now, lets see some more HD shows hit the Blu-ray format starting with BSG, The Office, and ER.

This BSG Cylon kit might be old, but who cares! It’s eff’n sweet. Just buy this $17.99 kit and bust out your Boy Scout carving skills. Best geeky pumpkin ever. Beats my Pac-man carvings from last year by a mile.
