<img src="http://tctechcrunch2011.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/HSDPA model headed to Cingular. It just cleared the FCC, so it's now only a matter of time. Moto was nice enough to favor this RAZR with a 1.3-megapixel camera, microSD, stereo Bluetooth, and dual cameras for video calls, so you can pretend you're on G.I. Joe while looking even lamer because you bought a RAZR. Seriously, though, we suppose this thing still has fans, because people keep buying it. At least Motorola keeps upgrading the bajebus out of it, so that's something. Motorola V3XX Coming to Cingular [PhoneScoop] → Read More
We got word of these presentation photos of what appears to be Motorola’s new RAZR PDA. That’s right, a smartphone in the RAZR form factor, because the world needs another RAZR like it needs touchscreen voting machines. Details are sketchy at best, as all we have are blurry, gadget rumortastic camphone photos, but they’re good enough that we can clearly see moderately thicker RAZR with a slightly enlarged outer display. We know that Moto has a Linux-based ROKR ready to go that’s already cleared the FCC labyrinth of regulation, so it’s likely that the RAZR in this shot will sport some Linuxy goodness. Also on the page, which is from an isreali gadget blog we can’t read, are photos of a “glowing PEBL”, and uglyized version of the popular T-Mobile PEBL. We’re not exactly sure what “glowing” refers to, but this PEBL does have what appears to be dual outer displays, and it looks like one’s color and one’s monochrome, which is confusing as hell. We’re going to comb through the FCC database now and see if we can find anything on these guys, but for now we’re calling it a Halloween mystery. Motorola Spy Pics [Gadgetim] → Read More
. Also befitting Johnny Drama & Co., the Miami Ink tattooed Dragon and Cherry Blossom RAZRs, both pre-tattooed so you won’t have to go to the shady phone tattoo parlor down on 8th and Franklin. I heard a Moto SLVR got stabbed there last week! If you’re more upscale, T-Mobile has the Dolce & Gabbana V3i, which comes in gold. Too bad this isn’t solid gold, or else you’d be totally robbed at gunpoint. Lastly, there’s the upgraded V3t phones, which is like the V3i, except the “t” stands for T-Mobile. Or “totally last year”, because this phone is already pretty outdated. T-Mobile [via Engadget Mobile] → Read More
I was locked in an unforgiving contract through the RAZR-fad so thankfully, unlike Gavin, I was never swept in the fray. Despite never owning one, it was impossible not to notice the now-ubiquitous-phone. Even in New Orleans, it’s everywhere. I don’t think I can leave the house without laying eyes on one. The funny thing that was always apparent to me, was that the RAZR was an inferior product to Samsung’s A900—the Blade. Sure the RAZR came first, trailblazing the field of slim and sexy in cell phones, but who cares? Samsung did it better. → Read More
“Better late than never is” what my mother always used to say, as I brought home another last place ranking in my track and field events. Evidently Sprint execs think the same way, evidenced by them finally get the Motorola RAZR V3m in their lineups. The phone, like all previous incarnations on Verizon, has Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, EV-DO and a gigantic $290 price tag. Seriously? Luckily there’s a $150 “instant savings” and a $90 mail-in rebate to knock it down to $50. If we were you, we’d stick around for some Moto KRZR or Moto RIZR action instead of spending our hard earned fifty dollars on this grandpa. Product Page [Sprint via Engadget Mobile] → Read More
Good news MOTO fans, as Sprint’s announcing the November availability of the KRZR, RAZR and SLVR phones. According to the release, all three phones will be EV-DO compatible, and have access to NFL Mobile, Sprint TVSM and Sprint Movies. Since there’s a month left until November, you have plenty of time to decide whether you want the candybar-shaped SLVR, the old wide-but-thin RAZR, or the new lady about town, the KRZR. → Read More
, the Moto KRZR K1m. We also told you that it would happen any day now, and we’re happy to say that today is the day. So drop your Chocolate, go out and get your KRZR. Show your RAZR-totin’ friends what real style is. The specs were what we figured they would be: 1.3MP camera with video, Bluetooth and MicroSD. Oddly, VZ notes that the KRZR K1m doesn’t have a standard 2.5mm headset jack, but it comes with its own hands-free kit. They also note that it’s Bluetooth is compatible with DUN plans, and since this tiny, sexy phone supports EV-DO, you’re in good shape to tether to your heart’s content. Verizon is notorious for crippling Bluetooth on its devices, but they’re leaving this one alone. They’re calling it the MOTO KRZR K1m on the Verizon site, and it’ll run you $199.99 with a 2-year contract. Verizon MOTOKRZR K1m product page [Verizon Wireless] → Read More
I stopped by Macy’s today to play with the new Motorola vending machine. I need a new phone, but I’m not sure that I want a PEBL or SLVR (which were the only upgrades available to me since I have a RAZR and they were out of Qs). The machine is pretty sweet, and it has instructions on how to change your service over to your new phone. Also available were mono and stereo Bluetooth headphones, chargers, and Motorola’s phone/pc software. I took a video, which is pretty low quality and limited to 15 seconds, since I used my RAZR to take it. → Read More
Motorola hasn’t announced it yet, but it looks like they’re working on a new RAZR-esque touchscreen PDA phone that will notably feature Linux. This thing has a big, bright 262K QVGA TFT touchscreen interface, a 2MP digital camera with flash, and, of course, video recording and conferencing. It can also play MP3, WMA, RealAudio, MIDI, WAV, AAC, AMR, RealVideo, MPEG-4 and H.263, through its two MFT speakers. The E690 features WAP, full internet browsing, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Bluetooth and a built-in voice dialing system. The only negative seems to be its USB 1.1. Only USB 1.1? Come on Moto, you can do better than that. LEAKED: Motorola loves Linux – E690 PDA Phone [Gizmodo via Hand Cell Phone] → Read More
Following the success of phones such as the RAZR, which has now essentially become ubiquitous, Nokia has decided that it too will begin naming some of its newer phones. Keithy Pardy, head of marketing for the cell giant, also admitted to being slow on the uptake of thin phones, but said it’s working on thin models and “looking at what’s next.” Not sure where we can go beyond thin. Cell chips grafted right into your brain? Errr, no thanks. I’ve seen “Johnny Mnemonic.” No word on when we might be seeing these new beasts, but I expect them to start surfacing soon. Perhaps the 7390, 7373 and the 7360, unveiled earlier this week, will get some crafty names. We’ll see. Nokia to baptize phones by name rather than number [Yahoo! News] → Read More
After everyone who really wanted one got theirs on eBay, Cingular’s finally selling the RAZR V3i for $299 minus $50 rebate. Sure, the RAZR V3i supports iTunes and has a 1.2 megapixel camera instead of the dinky VGA one in the old RAZR, but is it worth $249? In case you weren’t familiar with the V3i, it has Bluetooth, MP3 ringtones, iTunes compatibility with a dedicated key, speakerphone, MicroSD card slot, voice recorder, and is quad-band so you can take it to other countries with GSM support. We’re not sure whether it has the 100-song limit, but there’s a hack out there that lets you raise the limit to 1000. Product Page [Cingular via Gearlog] → Read More
Consumerist has a great exchange between the owner of a broken RAZR v3i and the Argentinean tech support team shuts her down immediately, offering to only replace it for the low-low fee of $175 – until she takes her case to the FCC, the FTC, and the Florida Attorney General’s office. The result? A new phone at no extra charge and a great AIM conversation with Consumerist’s Ben Popken. Motorola V3i Stops Working For No Good Reason, Wants To Charge $175 [Consumerist] → Read More
