Makerbot’s Thing-O-Matic is pretty pricey – $1,299 for the kit and $2,500 for the assembled kit – but (and this is my professional opinion) it is amazing and everyone in the world should own one. That said, Fab.com has a special deal on Thing-O-Matics this week – $999 for the kit and $2,000 for the assembled device – one of the first and biggest discounts ever on the entire system.

You can check it out here but you’ll have to create an account to pick it up at this price. The sale started yesterday so you have two days left to pull the trigger.

Why do you want a 3D printer? Heck if I know, but I think 3D printers are kind of like color printers in 1990. You never really thought you’d own one but they were pretty darn cool and eventually the price will be so low that everyone has one.

Steam’s big Summer Camp Sale starts today! Not that you can buy anything right now, since the store is buckling under the weight of the traffic. Reddit user Remmib has put together a nice little listing of most of the deals here, but you might want to wait an hour or two before trying to get in there.

Some standouts: Valve Complete Pack (Portal 2 included) for $50, Borderlands for $5, a great id pack for $30, and the Rockstar Collection for $40. Ah, Summer!

John riled up the Internet the other day by stating buying Archos’ latest, low-cost tablet is like buying cut-rate toilet paper. I get that and fully agree. Howover, some people have more of a tolerance for crapgadgets than others and if that’s you, head over to Woot and snag this $80 7-inch Android tablet. It’s 2010′s model running on Android 1.6 but comes with a modest 8GB of memory and plenty of video codex support. $80 and it’s yours.

There’s a new Nook in town and it’s great. But that doesn’t mean the old one is now suddenly any less great than it once was, which makes this daily deal quite nice. For only $79, you can snag a refurbished 3G Nook. That’s $90 less than it’s recently lowered price. Sure, it’s not a true touchscreen (fine by me) and it doesn’t have a new e-ink screen or a super battery life, but the original Nook was and still is a great ereader.

This is a great deal for a solid point-and-shoot — the Powershot SD1300 IS was $200 a year ago when it came out, but if you’re near a Radio Shack, you can drop by and pick one up for only $70 — if they have one. I’d call ahead.

With 12 megapixels, a 4x zoom, and a 2.7-inch screen, it’s not breaking any records, but you can trust it to take decent pictures (or make a great gift).

CrunchDeals: A $90 3G Kindle

Wow. Woot has a ringer today in a refurbished 3G Kindle. $90 will net buyers the previous generation Kindle, but at least the more pricey 3G wireless model. Even though this is a 2nd gen unit, and Amazon is currently about nine months into the 3rd generation’s life, you’re really not losing all that much. This is a deal, friends.

The current model features a more, if you will, contrasty e-ink screen that has darker text on a lighter background. This screen is also easier on battery drain so that’s improved as well. These improvements shouldn’t take away from the 2nd gen Kindle, which still pwns any other ereader out there besides its successor. if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to explore the glorious world of ereading, whip out that credit card and order this Woot. It doesn’t get any better than this. (and it’s not going to last long)

The Amazon reviewers haven’t marked the player very high, but most complaints seem trivial: the buttons aren’t backlit, low bitrate files sound like garbage, and the shuffle feature is broken. The Velocity Micro Cruz 7-inch tablet is no iPad killer, but it’s only $80 on Woot today. The 7-inch 4:3 screen should display all the wonders of Android 2.0 wonderfully. Sure, there isn’t a lot to love about this little tab, but once again, it’s only $80. It doesn’t have access to Android Market and doesn’t come with Google Apps. You know it’s only $80, right? The 4GB internal storage isn’t anything to brag to your buddies, but, as I’ve said a few times now, it’s only $80 so it’s not like you’re buying an $800 Xoom.

Once again, the Zune HD is for those looking to listen to music or watch the occasional video; it can’t compete with the iPod touch with apps. It can’t play Words With Friends or Angry Birds but that’s probably just fine for those that just want to listen to some tunes on the train to work.
