Screamy Is A Little Box That Screams When Your Drone Is Lost

If you’re lucky enough to live in a place where your drone can fly free among the trees and bushes and, more important, you’ve lost your drone in those selfsame trees and bushes, Screamy is for you. It’s a tiny box that connects to your drone via the control module and allows you to signal when the drone is down, a sort of MedicAlert bracelet for your quadcopter. It’s up on Kickstarter now and looks like it might make its goal.

Created by Kelly Miller of Rexburg, Idaho, Screamy is aimed at folks who might want to send their drones for mile-long jaunts through the waving wheat fields of Kansas or the dark woods of Maine. It connects to a lead in the most popular control module for drones and you can set it to activate when you flip a switch on your remote control. Unfortunately it doesn’t really work with popular consumer drones but it will definitely help out with hobbyist DIY drones with a little more configurability. The unit also will go off after a pre-set amount of time which means you can simply tape it to your drone (or even your model rocket) and wait a few minutes for it to start screaming.

Early bird Screamys cost $30 and the unit will sell for $75 when it launches officially. Miller is looking for $10,000 and has already hit the $1,000 mark. He’s planning on shipping next February.

The best thing? For $25 you can get a “It’s dangerous to go alone” T-shirt featuring the old man in the rock and, obviously, a Screamy. Clearly Link could have used one for his boomerang.
