Television and Twitch are the next steps for the sport of professional drone racing, with Mountain Dew coming on board as the title sponsor. It’s the first time that drone racing will broadcast on national television, via Discovery Channel and National Geographic, but also will cater to Twitch viewers online as a stream.
For a quick refresher as to what drone racing is exactly: a drone is controlled by a pilot via remote control, while wearing a pair of goggles connected to a live video feed sourced from the drone’s camera.
The first two global drone racing events will occur in August, called the DR1 Invitational and DR1 Drone Racing Series — both which will clearly be doing the dew for the duration of the championships.
