BuzzMyVideos, The Video Content Network, Acqui-Hires MakeTag To Bolster Tech

BuzzMyVideos, the London-based startup that specialises in international online video content promotion, has acqui-hired Italy’s MakeTag to bolster its tech.

The latter offered up technology to create interactive videos, specifically the ability to add tags and other meta-data and distribute content more effectively to various social networks.

Terms of the deal remain undisclosed, but BuzzMyVideos says the MakeTag team will be joining the company and will form the basis of a new development hub in Cagliari on the island of Sardinia in Italy.

Launched out of beta in mid-2004, BuzzMyVideos helps video makers to grow and monetize their video content via a multi-channel network and creators program.

The startup says its network now boasts over 5,200 creators from over 100 countries, spanning topics such as beauty, entertainment, music, web series and more. It claims to reach more than 600 million monthly views across its YouTube network.

Meanwhile, the company says that the MakeTag acquisition feeds into BuzzMyVideos’ overall goal to build tools to optimise online video and make it easier for both creators and brands to benefit from increased video consumption, which, in turn, is seeing ad dollars follow.

In late 2014, the startup raised a $2.5 million Series A round led by United Ventures.
