Adobe’s Stock Content Service Adds Video Support

Earlier this year, Adobe launched Adobe Stock, a new stock imagery service based on its acquisition of Fotolia. With today’s major update to its suite of Creative Cloud apps and services, the company is also updating Adobe Stock with support for video content.

This move doesn’t come as a major surprise given that the company has always said it wanted to expand the Adobe Stock catalog with support for video and other formats.

A company spokesperson told us initial per-video pricing will be $79.99. For now, the company will only offer video downloads as an “à la carte” service. Adobe Stock offers a subscription service for images, but for the time being, it’s not offering a similar pricing plan for videos.

Video footage will for now only be available in HD, but the same company spokesperson told us that 4K is “planned for the future.”

One feature that makes Adobe Stock stand out from competing services like iStock and Shutterstock is that it’s integrated into many of Adobe’s Creative Cloud apps, which allow you to search for stock content right in the apps. Earlier this year, Adobe brought built-in Stock support to Photoshop CC, InDesign CC, Illustrator CC, Premiere Pro CC and After Affects CC. With this update, Stock integration is now also available in Muse CC, Dreamweaver CC and Flash Professional CC.

Adobe also now also offers pooled licenses for businesses, and the company is making Adobe Stock available to its enterprise subscribers, who will now be able to use their federated IDs to get additional support for license management and reporting tools, in addition to pooled licenses.
