A Look Inside KitTea, San Francisco’s New Cat Cafe

Online culture has been obsessed with cats since the Japanese text board 2channel first posted Giko Neko in 1998.

Cat cafes have capitalized on this obsession and brought us a cache of cats in real-life locations all over the world. What started as a Japanese phenom has already spawned a couple of cat-themed cafes in Silicon Valley – one in Oakland and another in San Jose. Now San Francisco has a new tea house full of them, too.

KitTea just opened to the public in downtown San Francisco and of course this was the purrrfect (sorry not sorry) time for us to go chat with founder Courtney Hatt about her transition from the startup world to making money on the meme that makes the Internet go round.
