Lyft Hires Amazon VP Rex Tibbens As Its New COO

Lyft has a new chief operating officer — Rex Tibbens, previously the vice president of Amazon Logistics North America.

In a blog post about the hire, the company says Tibbens recently led the roll out of infrastructure for Amazon’s Prime Now service. In his new role, Tibbens is supposed to “help scale Lyft’s overall operations, expand customer support, and develop new innovations for the driver and passenger experience.”

Lyft’s previous COO, Travis VanderZanden, left last year after reported tensions with the company’s founders. He subsequently joined Uber, and Lyft accused him of stealing confidential documents.

The blog post also notes that he’s one of six executives to join Lyft in the past six months. Others include CFO Brian Roberts and CMO Kara Wampler.

One reason for all that hiring: The ride-hailing service announced a $530 million Series E last month.
