Travel Startup Musement Secures €5M In Series A Funding

Musement, a booking service for travel activities, has announced it’s raised €5 million in Series A funding from P101, 360 Capital Partners, Micheli Associati and Italian Angels for Growth.

While there are many startups that claim to “curate travel experiences” Musement does this by concentrating on locations which might be harder to book in a seamless manner. Naturally, coming out of Italy, it’s grown up putting together options around sightseeing, food and wine, tours, trekking and diving. It now plans to expand across Europe and the Americas.

Launched at TechCrunch Disrupt in New York in 2013 its competitors in the market include Peek, Viator (acquired by TripAdvisor in July 2014) and GetYourGuide.

However, Musement claims to be different because while several in-trip activity startups currently operate in this fragmented area, Musement aims at the ‘experiential traveller’. This market is said to be worth $100 billion globally and $37 billion in Europe alone.
