HBO GO Arrives On PS4 Today

Just ahead of the April 12 premiere of one of its more popular shows, Game of Thrones, HBO announced this morning that its streaming service HBO GO is now available on the PlayStation 4. The new application, which has been available on the PS3 for nearly a year, will be made available to PS4 owners as of today, the company says.

The PS4 app will function just the same as the earlier version for PS3, according to a post on the official Playstation blog. That means users will still need to first authenticate with the service via the website HBOGO.com/activate, which is where they’ll enter in their current cable or satellite TV subscriber account information. Afterwards, they’ll have access to all seasons of HBO’s shows.

The expansion comes just ahead of HBO’s expected announcement of a version of its HBO GO service aimed at cord cutters, who will soon be able to pay a flat monthly fee in order to access the service without a pay TV subscription.

HBO GO is already available on a number of other devices and platforms, including iOS and Android phones and tablets, Kindle Fire, Fire TV, Chromecast, Roku, Samsung Smart TV, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and the PS3.
