This week’s episode of CrunchWeek is coming a couple of days early, since it’s really a CrunchYear — we took some time to look back at some of the biggest trends and stories from 2014 in tech news.
It was a year of many huge security breaches, from Target and Home Depot to the infamous Fappening, Snappening, and Sony. It was also a year of huge amounts of money, from Facebook’s $19 billion Whatsapp buy, to Uber’s $40 billion valuation. And it was a year of tech leaders being held more accountable for their words and deeds, from Evan Spiegel to Satya Nadella.
So Alex Wilhelm, Ryan Lawler, and I gathered around the big white roundtable to talk about all of that and a bit more, and you can watch that in the video embedded above. It was a long year, so this is a longer CrunchWeek, clocking in at almost 20 minutes(!) Our New Year’s resolution is to keep these episodes shorter next year, I promise.
