Windows 10 Technical Preview Build ‘9879’ Touches Down Today

Short note here for all you on Windows 10: Expect a new build of the code today.

What’s in build ‘9879?’ We have a few ideas, but I presume that there will be more in the build than the market current expects. I hope, at least. It isn’t clear what time today the version of the preview of Microsoft’s new operating system will touch down, but it will come today.

Here’s the teaser (Via Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul):

Microsoft reported that in its first week of availability, 1 million people signed up to test the new operating system. I called the figure soft, but was pretty much alone in the media in casting aspersions on the milestone. To my knowledge, the company has not released a new figure.

Windows 10 has attracted favorableif cautious — early reviews, especially when compared to Windows 8, its predecessor. It will be interesting to see if it can maintain that edge as the rest of the operating system is unveiled. That process will include a consumer preview in early 2015.

For now, a new build looms.
