CubeSensors Will Now Monitor Your Sleeping Environment

CubeSensors is a startup that makes small, pretty stylish, connected devices that monitor rooms, feeding back information about air quality, temperature, and other things. It was a star performer at our TechCrunch Hardware Battlefield during CES 2014.

It’s now produced an update to its Cubes which monitors your bedroom environment to help you get a good night’s sleep. CubeSensors Sleep will be available as a free update to existing Cube owners this holiday season. We caught up with co-founder Ales Spetic to discuss the new sleep feature.

This is an increasingly hot space, given that Sense, a sleep tracking device that measures temperature, humidity and ambient light, raised over $2.4m after aiming for $100,000 on Kickstarter. (It’s also raised $10.5 million).

However, Sense has yet to ship a product, whereas you can actually buy CubeSensor Cubes right now. They are available in packs of 2, 4 or 6 Cubes, to fit homes of different sizes. A set of two Cubes for two rooms starts at $299.

The Cubes that use the new Sleep feature will glow gently to remind you when it’s time to go to bed, and the companion CubeSensors app will let you know if there’s anything you can do to make your bedroom more sleep-friendly. You can also set bedtime reminders for your kids’ bedrooms at different times.

If you use additional sleep tracking, you can also see when and how noises, bad air quality, dry air, high temperature or light disturbed your sleep. The CubeSensors app integrates with UP and UP24 by Jawbone or a Fitbit tracker. Then you can see not only how you slept, but why.
