BlackBerry CEO Teases Upcoming QWERTY Handset

BlackBerry is still rolling and today CEO John Chen announced the upcoming BlackBerry Classic, which seems to be, well, a classic BlackBerry.

Details like screen size and battery life were not revealed. All you need to know is that the Classic will have a BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard.

BlackBerry has never truly given up on phones with physical keyboards. Released in April of 2013, the Q10 was the company’s first QWERTY phone for BB10, but it’s getting a little long in the tooth and was never a fantastic device. We’ve heard that it never completely satisfied die-hard BlackBerry Bold users — something Chen notes in his blog post.

According to Chen, the Classic will have an upgraded screen and sports all the features found in BlackBerry 10.

Most importantly BlackBerry is turning back to its core audience. If the company is to survive, it needs to satisfy users who stuck by BlackBerry as well as try to convince previous Bold owners to give BlackBerry another try.
