Singld Out, A DNA-Based Dating Service, Can Match You With Dates Who Will Smell Sexy

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of services out there to help you find someone you might like to have sex with. But there are very few that are run solely by two female founders, and even fewer that use “biological compatibility” as a criteria for matching two users.

Meet Singld Out, a platform built for busy folks who are looking to love and need more than just a photo to convince them to go on a blind date.

We all know pictures speak a thousand words, but no one said those words had to be true. Meeting someone for the first time who totally misrepresented themselves online is pretty upsetting. But Singld Out looks for more than that, sending users a DNA test (for a simple saliva swab) to measure a whole new level of compatibility.

Alongside a quiz-based personality test (which the company describes as “highly accurate”), Singld Out is also measuring biological compatibility with the help of a company called Instant Chemistry. They do this by looking at specific parts of the genetic code, including the Human Leukocyte Antigen system and the serotonin transporter gene.

Three genes within the HLA system are said to be crucial to biological compatibility, affecting the makeup of our immune system as well as the pheromones we put off in the world. According to Instant Chemistry, the pheromonal attraction we experience to other people is actually our instincts informing us of who has a different immune system (on a genetic level) than we do.

The serotonin transporter gene, on the other hand, decides how you associate between negative and positive emotional behavior, essentially measuring the way that people deal with stress, how emotionally they respond to things, etc.

Through understanding the chemical composition of our bodies, Singld Out claims that we can have a better shot at chemistry with another person right off the bat.

Here’s the wording from the website*:

Research shows that children born to couples with very different immune system genes are more likely to successfully defend themselves against a greater variety of infections. But not only does scientific evidence point to children with strong immune systems, the research has shown that these couples also enjoy more satisfying sex lives, greater marital stability increased fertility rates and find each other more attractive.

But what about gay couples? Singld Out believes that their biological testing should work the same for gay people, but they are in the process of testing to get to the same accuracy as they have with heterosexual couples.

Singld Out is a bootstrapped company that is just getting off the ground in San Diego. For now, they have a focus on building up their home market before moving to bigger cities.

You can sign up to use the service now, and they will send you a DNA kit in the mail. Processing takes around two days once Instant Chemistry receives it.

You can sign up for a free trial to try out the personality side of the service, or sign up for a membership to receive a free DNA test. Three months goes for $199 and six months goes for $299, but the company is running a limited-time discount rate.
