A startup with an intriguing API product has raised a small seed round of £330,000. RainBird is an API platform lets developers build knowledge bases or publish web sites based on those knowledge bases.
The founders say it’s “a bit like GitHub is with source code repositories”. If you don’t want to pay for it, you are adding knowledge into the RainBird community for the benefit of others. If you want to build knowledge bases in a private environment because it’s proprietary, then you would pay a monthly fee. A little like the Evernote Trunk.
Founded by computer scientist Ben Taylor and entrepreneur investor James Duez, RainBird has been in closed beta for the past six months with 30 companies and individuals, and you can sign up now for early access to the open beta stage.
