Google I/O Protester Stopped The Conference Claiming To Be Jack Halprin Eviction Victim

A protestor claiming to be one of the eviction victims of Google lawyer Jack Halprin broke into Google I/O this morning and yelled, “Google is evicting me from my house… Jack Halprin is a millionaire… He is evicting me and my family from my house.”

Halprin was accused in April of trying to evict seven units of people under the Ellis Act in the Mission District of San Francisco.

The protester appears to be part of a larger protest at the Moscone Center during Google I/O. Several dozen protestors are gathered, some dressed in Star Wars garb and calling Google the “Evil Empire,” chanting “Google be a force for good. Treat your workers like you should.”

The protest outside, led by Fletes and Erin McElroy from Riseup.net and the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, started with picketing and then led to a frenzied march with chanting, drumming and a brass band around 10 a.m.

This is separate from the Occupy Google protest over net neutrality at Google HQ in Mountain View this morning. According to Valleywag, police arrested 10 individuals there earlier this morning.

Update: Protestor who temporarily interrupted Google I/O is elementary school teacher Claudia Tirado.

We’ll have more updates later. In the meantime, here are some pics:
