London-based and enterprise-focused fund Notion Capital has announced it’s going to back the early stage Startup Wise Guys accelerator based out of Estonia. What does that mean? The form of this backing is going to be through the application process, program execution, mentoring and post program funding — in other words about €50,000 will go to the best team(s) that make it through.
This is a slightly unusual move in Europe — not because a VC is picking a particular accelerator to work with, but because it’s a B2B fund publicly picking a B2B accelerator. It emphasises how many accelerators are now funding more fertile ground in verticals than broad-brush outfits.
