Event Discovery App Fever Gets $3M Seed Funding From Flickr’s CEO And Other Investors

Fever, an event discovery and booking app for iOS and Android, has received $3 million in seed funding from investors including Jeff Pulver, an early investor in Twitter and Foursquare); Bernardo Hernandez, the CEO of Flickr; Gary Shainberg; soccer player Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid; and musician Alejandro Sanz.

The app, which was founded by Pep Gomez and first launched in Europe six months ago, is currently available stateside in New York City.

Though there are already many event discovery apps out there, Fever hopes to differentiate by including recommendations from what it calls “influencers,” or people who have already committed to an event by purchasing a ticket or announcing their plans to attend it with an update.

The app’s recommendation engine also looks at each user’s top three interests, their activity, and interactions with other Fever users. Bookings can be made through the app with a credit card or users can RSVP to hold tickets.

Fever’s creators say the app has already been used more than 500,000 times by nearly 45,000 active users, and that events discovered through the app have been attended more than 30,000 times. To entice users, Fever will offer exclusive events with bookings available only through the app.
