Peer-To-Peer Car Rental Startup FlightCar Lands Some Senior Execs

Since launching at SFO last year, FlightCar has taken the Airbnb model for peer-to-peer lending and applied it to the airport car rentals. But, as one might imagine, that’s a logistically intensive business — which is why the company has hired a new COO and VP of marketing to help move things along.

Today the company is announcing that its brought on board former charter jet exec Greg Johnson as its COO and Cory Jones as its VP of marketing. Both hires are aimed at making the idea and process of renting out your car to someone else at the airport more palatable to consumers.

New COO Johnson has decades of experience creating business processes and managing operations for companies that were heavy on that sort of thing. Prior to joining FlightCar, he had founded private jet charter company OneSky Jets, which he later sold to competitor Sentient Jet. And before that, he worked in the overnight delivery arm of FedEx running logistics there.

Jones, meanwhile, had previously run marketing for the La Quinta hotel chain. Before that worked for Accenture, where he consulted with brands like AT&T, Merck, and Verizon. At FlightCar he’ll be tasked with trying to get more inventory on board.
