Canadian Startup Printchomp Bites Off Two More Marketing Niches

Printchomp does marketing collateral. Need a business card? Bingo. Need a brochure? Bongo. Need a picture of your CEO for the annual Secret Pin The Tail On The Tyrant Party at your house? Boom. Since 2012 these guys have had you covered.

The small, bootstrapped startup was founded in Cambridge, Ontario by Joseph Puopolo and Declan Whelan. The pair have been puttering along for two years, taking orders and offering print quotes since Disrupt SF 2012. Now they’re expanding into two interesting new arenas and looking for funding.

“We have bootstrapped to this point. As we expand we are considering looking at funding options as we weigh multiple growth opportunities through incoming deals and our capacity to handle our deal flow,” said Puopolo.

The new verticals are Swagchomp.com, a “swag” marketplace for keychains, stress balls, and other customized conference fodder and Signchomp.com, a marketplace for signs and digital signage. Like I said: marketing collateral.

The company is offering beta sign ups on its new sites and should launch in the next few weeks.

“We will offer easier solutions to get anything from a banner stand or vinyl banner created to an entire trade show display,” said Puopolo.

The company works with 1,100 printers in North America and they say they’re looking towards expansion around the world. They’ve processed and sent millions of business cards throughout Canada and the U.S.

The service isn’t new, obviously, but it brings many smaller print shops onto the web in a useful and user-friendly way. By connected customers with printers close to them, the service cuts down on the problem of finding the right house for the job while ensuring feedback and quality management. It’s a fascinating little niche and these guys have been right in front of it for a while.
