Apple Will Ship Its 700 Millionth iOS Device Next Month

Today at its iPhone event in Cupertino, Apple announced that it will ship its 700 millionth iOS device next month.

The last numbers for Apple’s device sales came in June, when it had announced 600M devices total. Those figures are likely to get a boost this quarter when Apple unleashes two new models of iPhone on the market. Apple’s sales have increasingly become cyclical, tied to the holiday release season. This has caused some depression of its stock over the last year and placed increasing pressure on the impacts that these fall events have on its iOS shipments.

The market is also more competitive than ever, as Android devices crossed the 1B mark this year, though those shipments are tallied across many vendors.
