    GalaxySIV

It looks like we might have a release date for the forthcoming Galaxy S IV flagship smartphone from Samsung. After a deluge of unconfirmed information — it’ll launch at MWC in February, no it’ll debut at a US-based Unpacked event — the folks over at SamMobile have learned from sources that the Galaxy S IV will be available on stores shelves in the sixteenth week of this year.

That puts the launch right around mid-April, which leaves plenty of time for either MWC or an Unpacked Event. We’re game for either.

But SamMobile has also dug around and confirmed a few other specs with sources, including the fact that the Galaxy S IV will in fact have wireless charging via a dock and a connectable back panel. It is also said to come in black and white color flavors.

According to the report, the phone will have a 2,600mAh battery, which is a solid upgrade from the Galaxy S III’s 2,100mAh battery.

Although we may have more concrete information about the release date and power specs, there is some speculation concerning the name. The number 4 is bad luck in Korea, where Samsung is headquartered. Samsung paid enough attention to this superstition to technically name the device GT-I9500, whereas the Galaxy S III’s technical name is GT-i9300.

This leaves us unclear on whether or not the Galaxy S IV will actually go by S IV, or if Samsung has something else in mind. We do know, however, that Sammy’s internal codename for the Galaxy S IV is Altius J (which means “higher”).

None of this has been confirmed by Samsung, but the phone’s launch seems imminent, so it’s only a matter of time until we know for sure.
