There are any number of ‘apps builders’ out there, from Appbreeder, Buzztouch, Apps-builder, Appsbar and Mobileappwizard (you get the drift), and even Apple has patented a tool for simple app building. However, few have received VC backing, which is why it’s notable that My-Apps.com has secured a $1.5 million investment from Russia’s Financial Group Life, which earlier this year created a $10 million tech venture fund. Prior to this, My-Apps attracted a $300,000 investment from Farminers seed fund and Igor Matsanyuk, one of the Mail.ru Group founders, taking funds raised to date to $1.8 million.

My-Apps specializes in technologies to make mobile app creation easier for the average person. It also has a B2B operation for the bespoke creation of enterprise apps. The quality of apps made on these platforms is not always the highest quality, and hand-built apps remain the standard. However, there are plenty of people out there willing to try and this market is expanding. Think of the value created by WordPress, for instance, with web sites. My-Apps’ major competition is Mobile Roadie in B2C and BiznessApps in B2B, but My-Apps is the only company in both B2B and B2C markets.

My-Apps has started expanding in the US market, and customers include MTS, one of the largest Russian mobile carriers, the NIC.ru domain registrar, Etisalat, an Arabian mobile carrier, and Yandex, Russia’s largest search engine.
