Those pigs aren’t dead pixels, friends. The Curiosity rover apparently found the next angry birds settlement on Mars — or so goes the viral campaign’s story. Rovio Mobile took to YouTube to tease its next mobile game for 2012. Angry Birds Space: Red Planet is set to hit app stores later this year and like the name suggests, will feature bird flinging on Mars.
Rovio has big plans for the Angry Birds franchise this year. The company stated to TechCrunch in a previous interview that it plans to launch four Angry Birds games in 2012 alone. But time is running out to reach that goal. Angry Birds Space launched back in May. Angry Birds Space: Red Planet is slated for this fall. That leaves two more launches for the holiday season. But no matter, Rovio could release a dozen Angry Birds games and they’ll all likely break download records like Angry Birds Space.
Rovio is an industry-changing entertainment media company based in Finland, and the creator of the globally successful Angry Birds franchise. Angry Birds, a casual puzzle game, became an international phenomenon within a year of release, and is now the number one paid app of all time. Following this success in mobile gaming, Angry Birds has expanded rapidly in entertainment, publishing, and licensing to become a beloved international brand.
