Last week I got an email from ski lift and mountain resort activity ticket e-retailer Liftopia about a big deal it inked to be the exclusive tech platform for the Mountain Collective, a new partnership of four elite ski resorts: Alta, Aspen/Snowmass, Jackson Hole, and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows.
That news was interesting, but almost more interesting was the fact that Liftopia was doing business and reaching out to press in August — somehow I’d assumed this would be the off-season for the company. In fact, though, Liftopia tells me that its summers have become just as bustling as its winters.
Liftopia co-founders Evan Reece and Ron Schneiderman are always fun to talk to, so I asked them to swing by TechCrunch TV for an interview. Watch the video above to hear about Liftopia’s growth story, from when it was run out of their apartments in 2005 to its status today as a venture-backed business that is up and running year-round.
Liftopia is a complete online ski marketplace, offering the largest source of discount ski lift tickets online with added deals on rentals, lessons, dining and other mountain-related activities and products.
