Daily Deals Marketplace DealsGoRound Rebrands As MyCabbage, Lets Users Store And Share Savings

Former secondary daily deals marketplace DealsGoRound announced today that it has relaunched as MyCabbage, an online and mobile platform that allows users to organize, share and redeem gift cards, coupons and daily deals.

The company is backed by $950,000 in new investment from Lightbank, I2A, New World Ventures and several angel investors.

CEO Kris Petersen says the company pivoted because the original site, started out of his kitchen in 2010, was meant as a service project and not as a business.

MyCabbage has evolved from a daily deal marketplace to a storage place for deals, gift cards and coupons. Users can punch in gift card codes, snap a photo of paper coupons and link their daily deal accounts from Groupon, Living Social and others into the site.

Petersen says the site retains all of the features of DealsGoRound. He tells me existing users “will feel at home with a few more bells and whistles.”

DealsGoRound featured a marketplace where users could sell daily deals that they couldn’t use; the new site has eliminated the 10 percent sales fee on transactions, so now users only pay PayPal fees.

The new site has a new social component as well, as users can view the savings in their friends and family’s accounts and send invitations to share deals; users can also choose to keep certain deals private.

“Planning is such a pain in the ass,” Petersen tells me. “Now with visibility into what your friends have and what you have, that becomes much easier.”

Petersen says the company will generate revenue by working to partner with brands to give users curated offers, like free shipping and 10% savings coupons based on their habits.
