NetMediaEurope buys CBS Interactive's German sites, including ZDNet.de and CNET.de

CBS Interactive is exiting the German IT publishing market, selling its stable of local sites – ZDNet.de, Silicon.de and CNET.de – to NetMediaEurope (which also owns Gizmodo.de, ITespresso.de and Channelbiz.de).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

NetMediaEurope, which bills itself as a “pure-play B2B online IT publishing house”, will merge its Munich operations with CBS Interactive’s former German branch.

NetMediaEurope claims the combined entity will see close to 20 million page impressions per month, and five million unique users, and hopes to attract more advertisers.

NetMediaEurope publishes in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, and was founded in July 2007 as a result of a management buy-out by senior VNU managers. Fun fact: I was working for VNU’s Belgian arm, which was acquired by Roularta, at the time of the MBO.
