Duedil, which is building out free database around company financials in the UK and Ireland, has today announced a second round investment from Jonty Hurwitz, the founding CTO of Wonga. Terms were undisclosed. The startup previously raised seed financing from Passion Capital and prominent angel investor Federico Pirzio-Biroli. Duedil is unusual since until now most company information has been paid-for in those territories.
Duedil offers a pretty large array of company data for free, and has plans to expand since launching in April 2011. It aggregates over 30 billion data points to bring indispensable information on every company and director in the UK and Ireland.
Hurwitz is a co-founder of Wonga, arguably one of Europe’s most successful and profitable startups, turning over £74 million in 2009, and recently sponsoring the Tube during New Year’s Eve.
Duedil won the GeeknRolla startup competition this year.
