Mark, great call. I had never seen that app before, I just added it. I can’t say I like much of the music they have on there, but hopefully they’ll be able to broaden the library, add more different kinds of music, etc. over time. I like the app and I haven’t even had any friends join me and start sharing yet, so hopefully the best is yet to come. I see that, it’s called “Lastfm Social.” But it’s not working now. There are a bunch of posts on the app’s page in FB saying “this doesn’t work,” “can’t get it to work…” etc. CBS owns Last.fm, they should do a better job of supporting their app. Maybe Facebook shut them down in anticipation of releasing another music product, but if that were the case, or if CBS were just going to stop supporting the FB app for whatever reason, they should take it down, instead of having something up there that just doesn’t work.

Spotify made a rather large purchase from http://www.dataqdirect.com through one of our account
executives, Casey Dunn, who is in continuous negotiations with them regarding
future purchases. From us, they bought an HP Procurve Switch, an HP
LaserJet printer, and numerous HP Wireless Access Points amongst an array of
other products for which they could possibly be using to build their new
networking infrastructure in the U.S. As you may have already seen, in
their “About Us” section on their website, they do have a newly added office in
New York City. Because of this NYC office to where we shipped their
products, along with the types of products they purchased, it seems very
possible that they’re building up their new office in preparation for a
possible partnership with Facebook.

Given the past history of The Mighty Four Majors, they will find a way to screw this up. They could take the money and run but they do have a habit of demanding more possible profit than warranted.

It is the old 20% of maybe instead of 10% of something.

I say good on them.

The only thing they were ever good at was re-treading old material and people are even growing tired of buying old material in a new format.

There’s already an app that lets you see what your friends are listening to, and stream music directly in Facebook. Not only does it work in the US, but works across most music players and music services besides just Spotify. It’s called http:///Like.fm.
