We don’t get to blog too often about robots made in Europe around here, which means the appearance of REETI, a new desktop robot developed by France-based robot venture Robopec, is quite a nice surprise. The REETI is designed to be a combination of a communication robot and a “multi-media tool”, according to Robopec.

The company created a piece of software that allows users to program “emotions” and facial expressions for REETI, for example to to let him move his eyes, ears and mouth (what’s cool is that you can use an iPad or iPhone to do that).

As he is equipped with three touch sensors, he reacts when you touch him, for example by blushing in red or blue.

Technically, the Ubuntu-powered REETI features an Atom Dual Core 1.8Ghz processor, a 500GB HDD, one 720p camera in each eye, three USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a mic, a speaker, an HDMI interface, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet.
