The iPad 2 is, needless to say, a hot commodity. However, due to obviously catastrophic conditions, Apple is delaying the release of the iPad 2 in the country “while the country and [Apple] teams focus on recovering from the recent disaster” an Apple rep told Reuters.

Apple opened their stores to tsunami victims, offering free Wi-Fi and phone calls to contact loved ones in various Japanese cities. There is no expected release date for the iPad 2 in Japan right now although other releases are on track for next week.
