PS3's Other OS Due For An Unofficial Comeback

Lo! It would seem that “Other OS” will return to the PS3, albeit in an unofficial capacity. (Do you honestly think Sony will ever sanction the return of “Other OS”?) Well-known tinker graf_chokolo says he’s brought back the option to install other operating systems, and that it’s “coming soon.”

Says Mr. graf_chokolo:

My approach will enable OtherOS to have the same access rigths as GameOS, it means access to Dispatcher Manager, Update Manager, VFLASH, HDD encryption/decryption, isolated SPUs and RSX of course.
GameOS is only good for games, for PS3 development and hacking is Linux or FreeBSD with GameOS rights are a lot better. And i want a clean approach for booting Linux, not like AsbestOS, it’ not very clean.

Sounds like a full-on Linux installation to me, which is all that people ever wanted.
