Juniper Networks this morning announced it has acquired Altor Networks, a provider of virtualization security technology, for $95 million in cash.

Juniper says the acquisition will allow the company to deliver a robust, integrated security architecture that protects both physical and virtual systems.

Altor, which has long been a Juniper technology partner, offers a hypervisor-based firewall, on-board intrusion detection capabilities and comprehensive reporting for compliance, among other products and services.

Altor Networks was founded in 2007 and raised $16 million in funding in total, most recently in early 2010 … from Juniper Networks (and multiple venture capital firms).
