LG’s had their fair share of Android handsets, but they’ve yet to launch any that really rule the roost — at least, not in terms of specs.

Looks like that might be about to change. Say hello to the Star, LG’s 4-inch superphone planned for early next year.

The specs, according to Engadget’s tipsters, are none too shabby:

  • Dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset. No word yet on specific clock speeds, but this thing’s CPU should be a friggin’ 3D-graphics-destroying screamer.
  • 8 megapixel camera w/ LED Flash
  • 1080p video recording
  • Front-facing camera
  • 1500mAh battery

Perhaps best of all: if Mr. Tipster’s insight holds true, the build of Android running on this thing is almost completely untouched — which, in a time when even the simplest UI modification leads to delay after delay in getting those Android updates out, is more than welcome.
