The White iPhone 4 is now gone from the Apple Store, marking the final step in its long, troubled life. The White iPhone, slated to be launched this year, was Apple’s black swan, an odd, exciting, and desirable piece of kit that, alas, was too beautiful for this world.

The White iPhone is survived by the black iPhone 4 and the entry-level 3GS. In lieu of flowers, Apple requests that mourners buy more iPads.
